A person receiving or registered to receive medical treatment.

em:Patient holds other objects.

em:Patient can hold any of these following objects, starting with the most specific and becoming more generic as you move down the list:


nc:RoleOfPerson

A person of whom the role object is a function.

A name of an illness, disease, or injury of a patient.

A date an illness or injury began.

em:PatientDiagnosis

A determination of the nature of an illness or other problem by examination of the symptoms.

em:PatientHealthEvent

A health-related event for a patient.

em:PatientIdentification

A unique identification of a specific patient which is assigned by a specific organization (the assigning authority). Examples of patient identifiers are medical record number, driver's license number and Social Security number, and their corresponding assigning authorities are the appropriate healthcare facility, state motor vehicle administration and the Social Security Administration, respectively.
